Good Afternoon NGG, We know that they players on this server are one of the most essential parts for a community like us. We highly encourage everyone to play safe and respectfully. Also, with the dedication and efforts of the administration team and all that they have been doing, we know that our community is already a much better place. However, we are not turning a blind eye to the fact that there are always ways, and will always be ways, that we can improve. Our most recent venture is one that we think will improve the quality of life for the server and allow our players to have more fun they play. This is due to the rule-breakers that I'm sure we are all familiar with now. To ensure that better quality play, we decided to re-introduce the Server Moderator aspect that can be given to trusted members of our community. Server Moderators are non-admin staff members of this community who enforce server rules and regulations. Server Moderators are given SM permission in-game, SM tag on TeamSpeak, discord & forums. Anyone with a good standing within the community and a clean admin record is eligible to become a Server Moderator. They are handpicked by the Board of Directors only - This means that there is no application process and no amount of asking/begging that can be done by anyone for them to gain the Server Moderator status in game, we want to make sure this is the case as we want to keep the server clean whilst maintaining our integrity as a community. We are also planning to extend the powers of the server moderator so that they will be able to perform more tasks within the staff team to ease the load on our administrators and to provide quicker and more efficient help for our players, however this is still in the works and currently lies with our fantastic and dedicated development team who are working on ways for this to be done and integrated.

Hello! For those of you who know me and have reached out to say hi (kindly or unkindly), thank you! For those who have not, I'm Spencer Jameson, and I have been a player and an admin on the server since 2012. @sixxy (Johnny Sixx) has decided to step away from the role of Executive Director, and he will instead focus solely on server security, stability and development. @Aachen (Michael J. Aachen), who has also reinstated as an Executive Administrator, will focus on project management from a development standpoint. From here, I will manage the day-to-day affairs and long-term scope of Next Generation Gaming as its Executive Director. Let's not mince words: the player base on this server is now smaller than at many other points in its 10-year history. A number of administrative decisions, attitudes or initiatives have upset short- and long-term players. Some decisions were restrictive or prohibitive, disincentivizing players from being creative or investing their time. New players are sometimes subject to a coarse experience on the server, made to explore the server's features solo and with little functional guidance. Quite frankly, many people were and are angry with how the server has been managed, and this is an understandable reaction; I felt the same, and I personally do not take your time and energy as players for granted. There is a lot to change, but we are confident in our capacity to do so with your continued trust. The lasting appeal of NGG is the strength of its community: those who play here, the friends they make along the way, and the memories they leave with. Right now, it is our primary goal to restore this group-based atmosphere for the benefit of current and former players, as well as to empower new players to easily experience it. We consider it important to modernize game play as far as possible within the confines permitted by SA:MP, while amplifying the game play features that have come to define NGG. Surely, this is and will not be the same server it was ten, or even five years ago, but it is important to us that the classic spirit of NGG not be eroded. Immediate Plans Complete Dynamic Group System Within two weeks, it is our goal to release an update which will allow any player to create their own unofficial factions with dynamic group functionality. This would yield most players the ability to participate in group-related events, like turf and point, as well as to enjoy their group-specific benefits. This is to include: The ability to dynamically create, name and define the traits of your own unofficial group. This could include qualities like faction color, the number of ranks and their names, divisions, or other thematic features. The ability to designate group leaders for your group, and to promote, demote, invite or uninvite players in-game or through the control panel. The ability to use OOC /family chat, as well as locker functionality and placement. The ability to share personally owned assets with your faction at will, and to unshare them with the same convenience through a set of commands (for example /vfaction and /pfaction). By using these commands, you would willingly convert your personal vehicle into a group vehicle, or allow members of your group to share functionality of your home. This would render these assets usable by your group in the same manner faction assets always have been, but can be reversed by the original owners through use of the same command. Official groups will be retained, and will undergo changes that provide them enhanced functionality in light of this update. As we approach the release of this update, more information will come on technical details. Revise Mapping and City Appearance Mapping in Los Santos has been cluttered by ten years of paid-for mapping projects, obnoxious obstacles to thwart Non-RP Driving, and other abandoned initiatives. These objects are often unsightly, and the degree of clutter is known to cause performance issues on older computer systems. Over the next two weeks, our admin team will be sorting through this clutter to remove intrusive and unattractive instances of mapping throughout the city. In its place, we invite the community to be involved in the new design of Los Santos. Additionally, we plan to reallocate and recycle certain high-quality interiors for general use. If you are a mapper and would like to be involved, or if there is a particular instance of mapping you believe is worth retaining in Los Santos, please reach out to @Pearson or @Schamens to touch base. Return of the Judiciary Simply put, the Judicial Branch will be reinstated as a functional branch of the San Andreas government to facilitate law enforcement role play and provide environmental context. This faction will have all enumerated powers provided by the San Andreas Constitution, and any interested members of the faction should reach out to me, @kevin_sixx or @MatthewRichard directly. Forgiveness In the spirit of turning over a new leaf, it is our plan to perform a large-scale wave of unbans in the very near future, excluding any issued following this announcement. Some bans may remain on a case-by-case basis, including recent hack bans. Additionally, we will perform a review of our current disciplinary policies and rules, to ensure that any and all punishments are commensurate with their offenses. We encourage any current or former players to stay tuned for a number of events we have planned to make the server engaging, dynamic and fun, as we get hard at work on new updates. This includes the age-old, classic Zombie Event, and possibly some new ones, so tell your friends! Future Plans Community-Driven Development Moving forward, it is important to us that Next Generation Gaming becomes everything its players want it to be. We will begin polling on certain features in a manner similar to Old-School Runescape's known model of community-driven development. We want players to enjoy this server how they choose to, and we intend to provide an enjoyable game play experience both for the casual gamer as well as the seasoned role player. You can expect to see polls in the future as we tailor mechanics of game play to your liking. Nothing will be developed that the players do not fully, and overwhelmingly, desire to see made. Administrative Accountability and Organization Like many of you, I strongly disdain top-heavy staff structures. It is a symptom of misallocated authority, and my guiding principle on this problem is that one should have authority that is equal only with the scope of their responsibility. Simply put, this means no more infinitely powerful, but purposeless, Executive Apprentices, or floating Head and Senior Admins who become prone to make heavy-handed decisions. As time goes on, it is our intention to create an administrative feedback system with script functionality in-game, allowing players to have their voices heard when either positively or negatively reflecting on their experiences with an admin. Likewise, we aim to increase the responsiveness of our admin team and to reduce in-game wait times. General Administrators can expect to have their permissions amplified to allow them to complete the vast majority of day-to-day tasks and reports. With time, this will reflect in the layout of the admin hierarchy, and will yield a more favorable ratio which prevents abuses of authority. @Vinnie, @Addison Swagger and @Aachen will oversee these principles as they are implemented. Moving Forward This is a community with a long, speckled history, and we appreciate those of you who have stuck around through good times and bad. With your help, we want to keep Next Generation Gaming fun and engaging as a group-based role play server, for however many players and groups seek that experience, as long as they like. If you have any suggestions on what we can do to shore up more engagement, or some questions/concerns about any features, please let us know in the comments, in private messages or even verbally on TeamSpeak and Discord. Thank you! I'm next president, baby!

    - If you registered BEFORE 2015, and can't find evidence, MAKE A WEALTH REQUEST, with the in-game name you used in 2015. THIS ONLY PROVIDES YOUR STATS THAT YOU HAD IN EARLY 2015.

It's been a hella long 10 years since NGG was created, and at the same time, it seems like yesterday I joined, all the friends I've met over time, no matter the fate of NGG, was worth it. Being a part of every iteration of this community (2008>>2010>>2018>>2020), I've always had high hopes for this place, I'll speak personally, it wasn't because of the script, the features etc, it's the people, period. The friends and associates we've all made within the last decade, makes it all count. Some enemies, some friends, some best friends. So, like I said, besides all the trial and error, this place, even only in it's name will live on for quite some time. Continuing on, and I realize I'm not exactly spilling a secret here, the SA:MP server is being officially discontinued. If it was up to a select people, including myself, it would have remained online for a month as a free-for-all, but the decision was made. I hope the memories and new people met were worth way more than what you have achieved in-game, whether money, level, business, whatever-have-you. So, now to talk a bit about the future of this place, I am glad to announce these forums and Discord will remain online permanently, as a sort of shrine towards the past ten years. I am planning development on them as we speak, and by the end, it will be a place to come and keep in touch, chat generally, and perhaps in the future we will even consider hosting 3rd party gaming servers. My current vision for this place, is for it to become a general hub for gaming, where the server hosters and players get a voice that can be heard from the mountain tops. I want to make it completely up to each and every one of you to make these two roads of communication a strong one, one that can keep the NGG name alive, even if just as a place to all come and chat. My words aren't the best tonight, as it's been a long work day. If any of you want to talk to me about the plans for this place, I implore you to contact me on Discord at Jason#1526, PMs are and have always been open. I'll be looking forward to hear from some of you, and continue to hear from all the people that have always made this place possible. Yours truly, That Canadian Guy aka Sharke Special thanks to @Addison Swagger, @Matt Honest, @Vinnie, @Jenny, @Schamens, @Bobby, @Kebab, @Wolf and the rest of the admin team and players for making the day-to-day of our best days possible.

Hello! Two weeks ago, I revealed that we are considering a number of changes to improve the server experience. Among these are a one-time mass ban wipe, a redesigned dynamic group system and a large-scale influx of new mapping in the main player hubs of Los Santos. We have kept quiet about our progress thus far, but we intend to release everything in this post on Saturday, August 15, if development continues on track. Simultaneously, we will host server-wide events like zombies and other favorites in the upcoming weeks. Rest assured, we have been productively and consistently at work behind the scenes to frame a more engaging RP experience. We will continue to provide updates and do our best in responding to all feedback from current players, returning players and new players alike, in a timely and respectful manner. If you were banned before July 27, 2020 of this year, your ban will be lifted by the end of the day on Friday, August 14. We encourage you to spread the word, let your friends know and come start something new on NGG! For years, players have raised concerns about the lack of opportunity for civilian RP and organization. There are strong pressures to align with an official faction or gang, even just to make use of some of the game's most basic functions like deploying cones. In many cases, this restricted enthusiastic groups of players from fulfilling their personal visions on the server, instead relying on Game Affairs and slow admins to approve their ideas. Thanks to @Winterfield's ingenuity, this system has been redesigned. The dynamic group update will allow all types of players—criminal, civil service, or business—to create their own group as they see fit, and to appropriately expand its functionality to fit its purpose, independently via the script. We also hope this will encourage players, new or returning, to play the server with their friends and freely create their own IC organizations. A group can be created by any player for a fee of $300,000 (this fee may be adjusted). At least five players must accept invitations to join this group before it is created, and any group with fewer than five individuals will be deleted automatically. Before deployment this weekend, we are implementing measures to ensure throwaway accounts do not create temporary groups to break rules. An admin warning will also appear to ensure that all names are appropriate. The group creation process, for the player and the admin, will appear like so: Upon creating a group, members will be accorded basic functionality, such as: The ability to use /f. The ability to deposit to and withdraw from a group vault, which can also be used for group upgrades. The capacity to create, edit, name and organize ranks or divisions. The new functionality of group-based asset sharing, including persistent vehicles and player-owned homes at the owner's discretion. By default, a player will be able to share and unshare their personal assets with a group instead of directly buying faction or gang vehicles. There will be a limited number of vehicle slots for all default factions, capped at five. This can be expanded via purchasing more group vehicle slots. The menu through which a group member spawns group vehicles will also indicate which vehicles are yours, as the persistent owner. A video is below. With time, we will expand on these features and address any bugs that may arise during their implementation. Groups will be able to acquire extended functionality in-game, but certain features will be mutually exclusive or require prerequisites. This will be done through a new command, /gupgrade. Certain features are tagged "legal" or "illegal." When a group selects an upgrade with either of these tags, this will lock that group into a specific type. The aim of this limitation is to ensure diversity in our in-game groups and prevent abuse of particular commands. A group that acquires the ability to participate in points and turfs, for example, will never be able to acquire the ability to deploy barricades, access medical commands or related functionality. Conflicting or unattainable perks will not show on the upgrade menu. Below is an early image of this system, with placeholder perks and prices: This will be expanded to include group lockers, group-specific sets of commands (such as EMS commands, news agencies with /broadcast and) and other miscellaneous features, like group name changes and style changes. As we continue developing the server, more features will be added to the personal faction progression line. Some will be purchasable by in-game cash or credits, while other more competitive perks (like access to /repfam, turf and points, or civil service faction commands) may require a minimum group member count as well as approval by a Game Affairs admin. We hope this will enable players to create their own organizations however they see fit, be that a news agency, a medical faction, a security agency or a criminal enterprise, with all necessary functionality at their command. Thanks to the work of @Pearson, @Rob and the rest of the mapping team, there will be fresh mapping in Los Santos. The area by All Saints and the mall has been redesigned, as well as Pershing Square and specific areas of Idlewood. Images are included below, but this is only some of the completed mapping that will be put live. Down the line, our next major update will be an overhaul on the /report system which allows players to provide their feedback on how a report was handled, providing a rating from 1 to 5 with a 100-character text box. Currently, and for the entirety of NGG's history, the only statistic for determining an admin's merit was their report count. In some ways, this was a disincentive for accepting more involved reports, like hacking reports, DM reports or other time-consuming issues, in favor of name change requests and falling reports. With this addition, there would be a rating system privately accessible by executive staff and HR staff, allowing us to see who truly takes their time with players to reach a fair, equitable solution for everyone. We hope changes like this will aid in creating a positive server environment and a staff team that is founded on quality rather than quantity. If you've read this far, thank you for your extended attention. I look forward to reading all of your feedback, and more importantly, I look forward to seeing all of you in-game this weekend!

I understand the want for more player's, but please make those who are banned post ban appeal's on the forums... a lot of us regular player's would really hate to see the return of repeat offender's when it come's to rule breaking. It's been a pretty big issue having player's just shooting people randomly in the street because they'd get a slap on the wrist 20min/hour jail punishment for it and that's about it. Don't undo all the work the staff and community members have put in to try and rid the server of toxic player's who treat NGG like a DM server. For the staff structure some simplifying could definitely be done here. Currently it's a pain trying to get someone with the right authority to deal with helping player's with issues or bugs. Most admins just answer reports with "not a high enough level admin on atm" If someone's been trusted enough to be admin then we should be giving them access to as much as possible so they can be as useful as possible. (Yes Junior Admins would have to deal with restrictions to ensure new staff don't abuse the system but for anyone trusted enough as a General Admin or higher should have access to pretty much most things) Even Server Moderator's could use a few extra basic commands so they can have the ability to help, SM's currently can spec, kick, jail and answer /newb questions. I'd recommend allowing them to be able view /report's as well for when no admin staff are online and have the ability to tp player's to VIP or the spawn and also be able to freeze/unfreeze them. I get a lot of people complaining in /v theyre frozen somewhere with no one answering their report and we can't do anything about it.

Another dirrection some enthusiasts might go is making some sort of ngg in MTA version of sa, on the pros theres many sides like almost no hacks, better sync, easier modding of server, why not give it a shot to keep the community ?

Personally agreed. It's not limited to just leadership but also few other aspects of real life. SAMP taught me alot and one of the most important thing is being confident enough. Stick to your belief and be stoic to people's opinion.

I appreciate these things can sometimes go past the estimated date of completion, however some regular updates on the post here as to a new estimated date of completion or an explanation as to why things havent been implemented yet would be greatly appreciated. (Not bothered at all with how long its taking, just the lack of communication!)
